The Church & Dwight Company was founded in 1846 by John Dwight and his brother-in-law, Dr. Austin Church. Each owner had their own, smaller company, but decided to form a partnership to sell sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) that was produced and refined in John Dwight's kitchen. In 1896, they formally incorporated under the Church & Dwight name. The company is headquartered in Princeton, NJ, with global offices in Australia, Canada, France, England, Brazil, Mexico, and China.
